Working in the office

Why choose

us?

Welcome

We appreciate the opportunity to introduce Worklife Medical and explain why we believe occupational health can provide far more value to your organisation than many employers experience today.

Too often, occupational health is seen as slow, vague and disconnected from the realities of running a business. Reports arrive late, recommendations are generic, and managers are left wondering what to do next.

Worklife Medical was created to challenge that. Our aim is simple: to provide occupational health that is fast, clear, practical and commercially aware, while always remaining independent, evidence-based and focused on supporting both employees and employers.

The following explains the principles behind our service, how we work, and why organisations choose Worklife Medical when they want occupational health that helps them make confident decisions.

The Worklife Medical Promise

1. Responsive: We respect your time

2. Decisive: We give you answers

3. Practical: Advice that works in the real world

4. Commercial: We understand employers

5. Proactive: We look ahead

6. Trusted: Your company doctor

We respect your time. Occupational health should be easy to access and quick to act. A brilliant opinion delivered three weeks after the decision was needed isn't particularly useful.

Fast turnaround: quick appointments and quick reports.

Accessible clinicians: managers can speak to the clinician when they need clarification or further advice.

Easy referrals: we work with managers to continually improve the referral process and reduce unnecessary paperwork.

Making referrals happen: rather than accepting "did not attend appointment" as an inevitable source or repeat fees, we work to prevent them and help managers get assessments completed.

Decisive

We give you answers. Employers aren't paying occupational health to collect medical information. They're paying for professional judgement and decision support.

Interpretation, not repetition: we clearly distinguish what an employee tells us from our professional opinion. You already know what the employee said. We tell you what it means.

No fence-sitting: where the evidence allows an opinion, we give one.

Every question answered: we know you asked the questions because you need answers to make decisions.

Avoiding over-medicalisation: not every difficult, stressful or unleasant workplace situation represents mental illness.

Consistency: similar circumstances should result in consistent professional advice, irrespective of what clinician you see.

Explain why: we explain the reasoning behind important recommendations so managers can make informed decisions.

Independent and impartial: we're neither the employee's nor management's advocate. We assess the evidence objectively and search for the truth.

Practical.png

Practical

Advice that works in the real world. A medically perfect recommendation that an employer cannot reasonably implement isn't good occupational health advice.

Practical recommendations: Worklife Medical was founded by someone with experience as a business owner who has experience of receiving OH reports as an employer and knowing what is an what is not a good adjustments in a real workplace.

Proportionate recommendations: advice reflects the size, resources, and capabilities of the business requesting the assessment.

Brief reports: accurate, brief and clear. No waffle.

Pain English: we translate medicine into language managers can understand and use.

Sensible risk management: work cannot be made risk-free. We help employers manage risk rather than automatically trying to eliminate it.

Solutions, not just problems: we look for ways of keeping people working or returning them to work. Where a sustainable return is unlikely, we'll say so rather than perpetuating a "temporarily unfit" treadmill indefinately.

Prioritisation: recommendations are distinguished as essential or recommended, helping managers understand what really matters.

Commercial

We understand employers. Occupational medicine doesn't happen in a vacuum. Advice has consequences for staffing, operations, finances and other employees.

Understanding the job: we want to see your workplace and understand what your employees actually do.

Understanding business: Worklife Medical was founded by someone with experience as a business owner and CEO, as well as a doctor and OH physican.

Employment context: we understand the employment framework surrounding OH and what information HR and managers need from us to do their jobs.

Understanding cost: recommendations consider medical benefit, operational practicality and financial impact rather than simply providing every theoretically beneficial adjustment.

Proactive.png

Proactive

We look ahead. Traditional occupational health can be highly reactive: someone becomes ill, manager refers, OH assesses and report issued. We provide value before the referral exists.

Earlier intervention: working with managers to identify health risks early and promote health rather than waiting until somebody is already absent.

Speaking up: if we notice concerning patterns, workplace risks or opportunities for improvement outside the narrow questions we've been asked, we'll tell you.

Manager education: we don't just write reports. We can help managers understand relevant medical conditions, adjustments and workplace-health issues.

Learning whether our advice worked: we actively want feedback about whether recommendations were successful and use that information for continuous improvement.

Trusted

Your company doctor. The ultimate objective isn't to become the company that processes your OH referrals. It's to become the medical adviser the business trusts.

Clinical continuity: wherever possible, the same employee is managed by the same clinician rather than repeatedly starting again with somebody new.

Genuine relationship: we want to understand the organisation and build a long-term relationship rather than operate as a transactional assessment service.
